Platelet rich plasma (PRP)

Platelet rich plasma is a form of treatment where the patient’s own plasma, rich in growth factors and platelets, is injected back into their body to enhance growth of cells that may be less active such as hair root cells in hair loss or skin cells in skin aging.

In this procedure, blood is taken from the patient and then spun down into cell rich and plasma rich fractions. The plasma rich fractions are then injected back into different regions such as the scalp for hair loss or facial skin for rejuvenation.

During a treatment session anywhere from 20 – 30 injections may be required depending on the number of syringes of PRP desired by the patient. Three to four monthly sessions are needed and then yearly maintenance sessions thereafter.
